Description

Sunrise Electric was brought in to assess the exterior lighting system at a commercial building in Chicago. The lighting was insufficient, and the costs of lamps, ballasts, and energy was very high for the customer. The loading dock’s existing system was running thirteen 400-watt fixtures and three 250-watt metal halide fixtures, and the entire system was pulling 5,950 watts of power.

Exterior Lighting: 225 West Washington

Project Complications

-The building’s loading dock needed sufficient lighting to replace the existing metal-halide system, with the goal of enhancing lighting quality while saving money on maintenance and energy costs.

Sunrise’s Above-and-Beyond Resolution

To reduce energy costs, Sunrise assisted the property management company with an LED lighting conversion. The new lighting system we designed and installed reduced the system wattage to just 940, and the LED fixtures will save a lot of money of maintenance and repair. The loading dock is now properly lit to provide a safe working environment with power consumption reduced by 85%.

Our team also followed through and submitted the proper paperwork for the building management to take advantage of the ComEd Standard Incentive program. This ComEd rebate program, saved the customer thousands of dollars, which was utilized to offset a large portion of the project costs.
